Must-see spots in La Paz, a city located at 3,600 meters above sea level!
hi this is Lelele who write this blog.
my husband and I have been to backpacking through South American countries.
La Paz is one of the awesome city to visit in Bolivia.
so I would like to introduce some places we love.
Recomended hot spots in La Paz
Iglesia de San Francisco
A magnigicent appearance in La Paz.
in front of Iglesia de San Francisco there are shops, street performance and baskers so it is pretty lively in this area. It was nice walking around and having a look at the shops.
also Iglesia de San Francisco is located close to “The Witches’ Market“ that is fascinating market to visit.
Calle Jaén-Jaen street
Unlike typical buildings in La Paz, this street is lined with brightly colored buildings reminiscent of old Europe.

It is not a very long, narrow street, so it is over quickly if you just walk. but there are nice museums, bars, and restaurants to spend some time with.

Valle de la Luna-Valley of the moon

There is a Valle de la Luna in Atacama desert in Chile too.
It is located 1hour away by bus from La Paz.
it looks very thorny and different from the Valle de la Luna I saw in Chile.
you can go hiking through it but it is tough because the altitude there is about 4000m high. also shoes and clothing are recommended to be well equipped.

stunning scenery continues on the way to La Paz.

a bus to La Paz did not come for long time so we decided to walk down the street to next bus stop and it turned out very good idea. because of these scenery and we enjoyed it.
here is the article about Valle de la Luna in Chile.
this article is written in Japanese but I am writing English version of all I have writen in this blog. I hope you like it!

Mirador Killi Killi
Observatory overlooking the city of La Paz.
we took a teleférico to Mirador KIlli Killi, which is a bit far from the nearest station and even further uphill. it feels like a hard climb. don`t forget the altitude in Lapaz is over 3600m!
Hungry and thirsty by the time we got there, we found a local café-restaurant on the way.The owner of the restaurant was a very cheerful man who played guitar and sang for us while we were eating.
The owner told me that he had released a song in the past, and showed us his music video on the TV in the restaurant.
I love this kind of encounter on travel.
local super market
When I travel abroad, I like to go to the local supermarket, how about you?

In Bolivia, there are often markets outside, so I often bought fresh vegetables and other items at outside markets, but I bought bread and ham at supermarkets.
I hope you enjoy La Paz to the fullest
Was this a useful list of 5 places to visit in La Paz that I have introduced to you?
I hope I have given you some idea of the atmosphere of La Paz.
